"the rubbing and kneading of muscles and joints of the body with the hands, especially to relieve tension or pain." Straight from the mouth of babes... In reality from the dictionary. But it is short, sweet, and too the point.
Because that is what massage is. It is pushing or kneading a piece of tissue into an underlying structure. But, in a nutshell, does not cover everything; if someone has had an amazing massage, it is so much more.
It is a way to leave your problems at the door and come out a new person.
It is the ability to walk/move after being in so much pain.
It is a gentle touch in a storm that feels like it may be too much for you to bear.
It is kind, it is healing, and it comes from the best of intentions.
Because that is what massage is. It is someone learning the body to the point of being intimately familiar with its' tendons, muscles, visceral organs, and general responses; and giving of themselves to make you feel like you did prior to all that hurt.
Massage can be just muscles and bodily structures, but it can also be a healing light that washes over you and promotes a holistic form of comfort that cannot be seen many other places.
